The Large Hadron Collider at CERN in Europe is now turned on. The mission, I heard on the car radio while driving, is to score for Higgs' boson and get a hadron. Wait, or is it that Higgs will show her boson when the scientists collide their large hadrons? The reporter on the radio also said something like, we should all not be afraid of getting sucked by black holes.
This was all so confusingly exciting when I heard it. What's your position?

the movie "Contact" perhaps? Watch that hole : P
my bad. That's bad.... I full support the sci. community.
From what I hear, all the scientists associated with the project said there was no risk of tiny black holes. It's just a bunch of fearmongering. A good chance to say something sensationalistic, get picked up by the media, and get your name known.
By the way, did you know you can watch a webcam of the CERN complex and the LHC?
[a link to the webcams]
The LHC has been making headlines for probably 5 years now. I'm way past the excitation stage.
But it is cool that it's finally up and running. I wish the particle physicists luck!
ROFL nice webcams!
Nick, great webcam! What have you done this time? :)
Phyll, Aren't you, Toki, Marshaln and Wes particle physicists of sorts? eileen
I wonder if anyone got the sexual innuendos. Too subtle? Maybe I should have upped it a notch...with cliches like like "your boson is giving me a hadron" to come across.
Maybe only physicists and engineers get it. :)
Have you ever played Half-Life? Because there are similarities...

Tomas, the resemblance of that bearded guy is uncanny! Coincidence? I have not played that game, however.
I can't say I understand all of the physics involved, but I know I like large powerful instruments of science.
This is the best thing since sliced bread;)
The best top view of ma lyf.......keep posting. Will be visiting back soon.
