Last Saturday on January 7th, 2017, I had the pleasure of meeting James Schergen (of TeaDB) for the first time. James was in my neck of the woods for the weekend with his family and stayed 5 minutes away from my home. Needless to say, our meeting was predestined.
We met at my home in Thousand Oaks, CA, at around 12:30pm and we kept a very casual, relaxed pace with our day and tea drinking. During the course of the third tea we were having, which was a
late 60's / early 70's CNNP Huangyin (Yellow Mark), we both felt a mutual need to walk off the immense energy from this tea. So we drove to a nearby hiking trail in the Santa Monica Mountains and walked by the lush green hills and breathed the fragrant after-rain air, all the while sensing the warm blanket of energy and the high from the incredible aged tea.
An hour or so later, we returned back to my home and continued on our tea session with the Huangyin until it was time for James to rejoin his family. The sky was already dark when we parted.
The teas we had:
1. Aged Dongding oolong (ca. 1980’s) to start with, then
2. 2001 sheng pu’er produced by a factory called Ma Sheng, and
3. Late 1960's / early 1970's CNNP Huangyin (黃印 / Yellow Mark); a.k.a "Ma Huang / 馬黃", short for Malaysia Huangyin (馬來西亞黃印), that has been stored in, well, Malaysia under natural dry storage condition (courtesy of Mrs. Su Ming Ng -- thank you!)
The teas were wonderful, to say the least, and the company even more so!
